5 DAYS TANZANIA SAFARI
ITINERARY DESCRIPTION BY DAY
Day 1: Arusha-Tarangire National Park .
7:30am, with lunch boxes You will be picked up after short briefing you will head off in direction of the Tarangire about 2hrs which is 120km drive . The park with its savannah, baobab trees, and seasonal swamps is home to huge elephant herds. Animals gather at the life-giving Tarangire River and you should see a selection of mammals ranging from giraffes, bush bucks and heartbeats to zebras and warthogs. The park is also home to buffaloes, zebras and wildebeests which are always closely followed by a range of predators such as lions. Leopards are seen now and then but cheetahs are rarely spotted. From the open roof of the safari vehicle you will be able to absorb the landscape and watch the animals. In the late afternoon you will leave the park and head to a nearby campsite, where you will spend the night at kizumba campsite for your dinner.
Day 2: Mto wa mbu-Serengeti National Park .
After the breakfast collect your lunch box and then continue toward the fertile highland where wheat, coffee and corn are grown by the Iraqw people. Passing through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you will be able to see the breath-taking Ngorongoro Crater before travelling onwards to the Serengeti National Park, which you will reach by midday. The Serengeti National Park is the largest park in Tanzania with a diversity of landscapes and habitats, such as grassy plains, swamps, lakes, savannah and mountains. Here the biggest wildebeest and zebra migration takes place and depending on season you will have the opportunity to witness thousands of animals on their search for nourishment. You will camp the night in the Seronera area in central Serengeti at nyani campsite for your accommodation.
Day 3: Serengeti National Park -Ngorongoro Conservation Area
We will start early morning game drive As the sun slowly rises over the vast open plains, you will embark on your first game drive of the day. Due to the abundance of prey species, such as gazelles and impalas, the park boasts one of the largest lion populations in Africa as well as other predators such as leopards and cheetahs. Returning to camp after the game drive you will enjoy a hearty breakfast before leaving the park and driving towards Ngorongoro Crater. Arriving at the crater rim, the 600m deep caldera in all its splendor opens up before you. You will spend the night at a campsite on the crater’s edge (simba camp site)
Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater -Mto wa Mbu .
Early in the morning you will head down the forested slopes into the crater on a steep and narrow path. The crater floor is covered in open grassland with the occasional acacia tree and two small wooded areas. Teaming with wildlife, you will be able to see many animals in a short period of time and might even be able to tick the “Big Five” – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard – off your list. Other animals present in the crater area include wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, warthogs, hippos and more than 500 species of birds. You will spend the entire morning exploring the park and after a picnic lunch in the crater, you will return to mto wa mbu where you will arrive by early evening for dinner and overnight at kizumba campsite
Day 5: Lake Manyara National Park-Arusha
With your lunch box from kizumba lodge You will drive to the Lake Manyara National Park. This small park is a paradise for serious and amateur bird-lovers as this small park is home to over 400 species of birds, including flamingos, pelicans, storks and cormorants. Many mammals, such as bushbucks, waterbucks, wildebeests, zebras, baboons, monkeys, lions and leopards can be seen roaming the forest and the acacia-dotted plains of the park. You will have an unhindered view of the surroundings as the safari vehicle’s roof can open up to allow you the best angle for photography. We will break for lunch sometime in one of the picnic site in the park After an extensive game drive in the park you will leave the park in the afternoon. Arrive at arusha at around 0500pm.
