The main peak (5,895 m), which is the highest point in Africa, is two hours away from here along the crater rim for those who are still in good spirits. We descend to Barafu in an astonishingly short amount of time, stopping at Barafu Camp for some refreshments before continuing to descend to Mweka Camp.
