9 Day Serengeti Wildebeest Migration Safari
ITINERARY DESCRIPTION BY DAY
Day 1:Arrival Arusha
From the Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be picked up and driven in a private vehicle to Arusha, where you will have dinner and spend the night. Before your big adventure begins, you may have time to take a walking tour through a coffee plantation or choose to visit Arusha National Park, if time permits.
Day 2 : Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park
Start your safari after breakfast by traveling to the lush and lovely Manyara National Park to see the wildlife. Take your lunch in the park picnic area at 1300 hours. Full board includes dinner and one night at the Serena Hotel.
Day 3 : Lake Manyara to Serengeti National Park
Breakfast is served at the hotel. Game drive in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area on the way to the magnificent Serengeti Plains. After a picnic lunch, continue your game drive in Seronera, in the center of the Serengeti National Park, or follow the migration’s path.
Day 4 : A full day game drive in Serengeti National Park
You can expect to witness wildebeest, lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, baboons, hippos, rhinos, antelopes, and a wide variety of birds depending on the time of year and the herds’ journey.
Day 5 : another full day game drive in the South of Serengeti
After breakfast, we’ll head out for a game drive in the Serengeti National Park while carrying our lunches with us. A 40 km long chain of the migration may be seen moving in a south-western direction. Between 1230 and 1300, take a lunch break. Following our lunch, we will continue our game viewing while keeping an eye on the migration in the park’s southwest. The short grass has been shared by an estimated 1.3 million wildebeest, 250,000 gazelles, and 200,000 zebras.
Day 6 : Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
A picnic lunch is followed by an early morning game drive in the Serengeti as you make your way to the Ngorongoro crater. We’ll make a pit break at the renowned archaeological find that Louis and Mary Leakey made in Olduvai Gorge. Some of the earliest known ancestral traces of man can be found in their discoveries.
Day 7 : Ngorongoro Crater
For your crater trip, we will drop 2000 feet (nearly 600 meters) to the Ngorongoro Crater’s floor today. Here, we will investigate the woodland regions home to elephants and monkeys as well as the lake region, where we might observe flamingos. We’ll also go to the lions’ hunting grounds in the wide savannah.
Picnic lunch will be served in the crater.
Day 8 : Ngorongoro Crater to Kia Lodge
Your lodging will be in one of the 40 little bungalows tucked among the grounds of this delightful lodge, which is close to the airport. The view of Mount Kilimanjaro from the outside bar is breathtaking. The rest of the day can be spent lazing by the pool or admiring the scenery from your bungalow. For those arriving late on a flight, a late dinner buffet is offered .
Day 9 : Kia Lodge to the Airport
After your safari, we will organise a private vehicle to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO).
