Tour Overview

This 2-day Tarangire and Ngorongoro safari fits two of Tanzania’s best-known parks into a weekend. We pick you up in Arusha or at Kilimanjaro Airport and drive to Tarangire for a game drive among the baobabs and elephant herds. The night is at a public campsite in Karatu.

On day two you descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive on the crater floor, then drive back to Arusha. The minimum age is 8.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

    Day 1 Arusha/Kilimanjaro Airport – Tarangire National Park – Overnight in Karatu
    Your journey begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel or Kilimanjaro Airport by a professional guide from Safari & Holiday Makers. With packed lunch boxes on board, enjoy a 2.5-hour drive to Tarangire National Park.

    Upon entry, begin mid-morning game drives, exploring one of Tanzania’s richest wildlife regions. Tarangire is known for its massive elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and high concentrations of wildlife After a picnic lunch, continue game viewing through the afternoon until evening. Later, drive to Karatu for dinner and relaxation at the campsite.

    Day 2 Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha
    After breakfast, drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the world’s largest intact volcanic calderas and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
    The crater is home to nearly 30,000 animals, including:
    Black rhino (rare & endangered)
    Wildebeests, zebras, buffalos
    Hippos, elands, warthogs
    Lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs
    Occasionally, the elusive leopard
    Enjoy a scenic picnic lunch inside the crater before continuing your game drive. In the late afternoon, ascend the crater walls and begin your journey back to Arusha, arriving before nightfall.
