Tour Overview

This 4-day camping safari is the lowest-priced way to see the Serengeti with us. You camp at public campsites every night: Mto wa Mbu after Tarangire, Seronera in the Serengeti, and Simba Campsite on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater.

Day one is a game drive in Tarangire. On day two you continue to the Serengeti for game drives on the plains. On day three you leave the Serengeti for the crater rim. The last day starts with the descent into the crater, and then you return to Arusha. The minimum age is 12.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 Arusha → Tarangire National Park → Mto wa Mbu (Campsite)
Distance: ~120 km
Driving Time: 2–3 hours

Your safari starts with pick-up in Arusha. You drive to Tarangire National Park, known for its large elephant herds and giant baobab trees.

Enjoy a full game drive where you may see lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and many birds.

In the late afternoon, you leave the park and drive to Mto wa Mbu village for dinner and overnight at a public campsite.

Day 2 Mto wa Mbu → Serengeti National Park (Campsite)
Distance: ~250 km
Driving Time: 6–7 hours (with game viewing)

After breakfast, you drive towards Serengeti National Park via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Enjoy beautiful views of the highlands before entering Serengeti. You will have a game drive on the way to your campsite in Central Serengeti (Seronera area).

Day 3 Serengeti → Ngorongoro Conservation Area (Campsite)
Distance: ~150 km
Driving Time: 4–5 hours

After breakfast, enjoy a morning game drive in Serengeti. This is a good time to see predators like lions and cheetahs.

Later, you drive towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with game viewing along the way.

You will overnight at a public campsite on the crater rim.

Day 4 Ngorongoro Crater → Arusha

Early morning, you descend into Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive.

The crater is one of the best places to see the Big Five in one day. You may spot rhinos, lions, elephants, buffaloes, and hippos.

After a picnic lunch, you drive back to Arusha, arriving in the afternoon.
